Beyond the Call Award
The annual General Frank Smoker Beyond the Call Award was established to honor a Lebanon Valley community member or business that has provided exceptional support to one or more service member(s) or veteran(s), their spouses, and/or family. One award is presented annually, and the Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee will serve as the official selection committee.
Nominations may be made by any Lebanon Valley Chamber member, a service member from any branch of the service, or by company employee(s) member, who has knowledge of the support. This support must have been provided at any time during the 2024-2025 calendar year.
Major General Frank H. Smoker, Jr. served as Commander of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard from 1978 to 1985, retiring after 42 years of service to his state and nation. General Smoker had over 5,000 flying hours, including 26 combat missions in WWII and five airlift missions to Vietnam. This award was named after this American hero in 2010, shortly after his passing.
